Capturing the Grand Landscape: In this 2-part workshop: classroom and field, learn everything from your essential equipment, to stand-out compositions. Day one: We will discuss the importance of camera settings, capturing the "golden" light and how to train your natural eye to see compositions that will wow your viewers! Day two: field techniques will take us to Great Falls Park for a 2-hour sunrise shoot . With years of shooting at Great Falls under my belt, we will venture to some of the most scenic, intimate opportunities you can find. On the scene evaluations and technical assistance will be provided. All workshop participants are welcome to submit 10 of their best images from the shoot for a personal critique after the workshop. This workshop is open to film and digital photographer.

Creative Close-up Photography: A 2-hour workshop designed to sharpen and master your skills in macro and close-up photography. Learn what equipment to use to create stunning macro photographs from wildflowers to ice patterns, the possibilities are endless. Joseph will demonstrate the use of macro lenses, extension tubes, filters and the use of of camera flash and reflectors. You will learn how to apply these skills to create realistic and abstract images of any subject. You'll have an opportunity to practice your new skills in Meadowlark Botanical Garden's 95-acres of formal and informal gardens.  This workshop is open to film and digital photographers.

The Art of Abstract Nature Photography: This 2-hour lecture will focus on the creative and technical techniques of Fine Art Abstract Photography. Learn how to create dynamic abstract images of any subject matter. Joseph will discuss training your eye to see in the abstract as well as techniques like multiple exposure, image overlay and creative panning to create other worldly images. This workshop is open to film and digital photographers. You'll have an opportunity to spend time in the gardens at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens.

EXHIBITING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS Wondering where to get solid, professional advice on how to start exhibiting your photographs? Look no further! In this unique class filled with practical information, nature photographer Christine Kent Bowles will eliminate the guesswork and teach you how to get started showing your work. Learn how to find venues to exhibit your photographs, how to apply for exhibits, how to mat, frame, and display your work (including how to choose matting and framing materials), and how to set prices for selling prints. 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM. CLASS IS SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 15, 2008.

After 20 years as a professional jazz artist, Tony changed careers and directed his creative juices towards nature photography. The improvisational, spontaneous, and abstract nature of jazz are also integral elements of nature photography. Tony's work is published on greeting cards, calendars, post cards, posters, annual reports, movie sets, catalogs, articles, and electronic mediums. He is represented by Getty, PanStock, Natural Selection, and ChromaZone.

Tony conducts his Visual Artistry and Field Mentorship workshops from April thru October. Tony's articles and photography are featured in Shutterbug magazine in "The Tip-off" column, Rangefinder magazine, Nikon World, and as contributor to NikonPro.com. His first book, "Fine Art Nature Photography: Advanced Techniques and the Creative Process" was published by Stackpole Books in July, 2002.

 

Tony's second book, "Visual Rhythm - The Art and Business of Nature Photography," was published in April, 2005. His third book, "Fine Art Flower Photography, the Art of Interpretation," was released in 2006. and will serve as the basis for his lecture at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens.

He maintains an active speaking schedule on the subjects of "Image Design", nature photography, and marketing, addressing professional photography organizations, photography schools, seminars, and workshops throughout the United States and Canada. Tony is a member of Fuji's "Talent Team 2005," NANPA, and the Baltimore chapter of ASMP.

Tony Sweet is scheduled to appear ON August 3, 2008 The class will start at 9:00 AM and will last until 11:00 AM and, weather permitting, there will be an opportunity to take photographs in the Garden with Tony.  Cost: $60.00
